Of course I'm talking about yoni eggs.

You should always be cleaning your yoni egg before or after you use it. If you aren't cleaning it properly, you risk getting an infection, which can bring your practice to a screeching halt.

To clean the yoni egg, heat up water on the stove until it reaches about the temperature of coffee. (If you have a thermometer, you can use it, and 176 degrees is the perfect temperature). About the temperature of an extra hot latte. Otherwise, just make sure the water is hot BUT not boiling.

Put the water into a mug or a sturdy cup. I don't recommend leaving it in the pot. Using boiling water, or allowing the egg to touch the side of a hot pot compromises the integrity of the stone, and makes it susceptible to cracking and breaking. This is bad.

You can add a couple drops of lavender essential oil to the water if you’d like to. Lavender is a natural antiseptic and anti-fungal, so it's good for your lady bits, but even more than that, it smells divine.  Keep the egg in the hot water for about ten minutes.

To clean the hole in the egg, you can “floss” it with a string.  If you really want to go above and beyond, you can use a gum pick, which you can find at most drug stores (or on-line).

Aside from keeping the egg physically clean, it’s not a bad idea to keep it energetically clean as well, especially with the black obsidian, which *seems* to act like a sponge for negative energy.

This is my experience:

When I use the black obsidian yoni egg to work with healing and clearing the root chakra, I imagine funneling all my negative energy into the black obsidian yoni egg while meditating .

Because this is my intention, it seems to have a powerful effect.  I have had several profound and sobering moments, viewing reality through an unadulterated lens, free from fear, anxiety, and negativity. Whether this is because of my intention, or because the stone is that powerful, I can't say for sure. But it works.

So, I do my best to keep my yoni eggs energetically clean as well. If my meditations are trapping any bad juju in my yoni egg, I definitely don't want it back, ever.

Here are some ways to energetically clean a yoni egg:

1. Put in a bowl of salt water under the moon (preferably the full moon)

2. Bury it in the dirt overnight (also, you guessed it, under the full moon)

3. Rinse it off in ocean water. Pretty much anything that connects your stone back to the earth.

Of course, your experience will be different than anyone else's. If anyone has any other methods of cleaning or clearing yoni egg energy I would love to hear about them! Leave a comment with your own rituals for cleaning, or shoot me a message.
